The roots of Smart Went Crazy date back to a loose musical partnership between Chad Clark (NYC native) and Abram Goodrich (native of everywhere) while attending high school in Bethesda, MD. Later, Chad met Hilary Soldati (Concord, NH native) at NYU and eventually all three found themselves in DC working on music together. After hooking up with drummer Tony Dennison (Baltimore, MD native), the foursome recorded Cubbyhole, a 4 song EP. Jeff Boswell (Lincoln, NE native) became the group's first full-time guitar player and the band started calling itself Smart Went Crazy. Next, SWC hooked up with Dischord Records to record their critically acclaimed debut full-length, Now We're Even, in 1995. Following the completion of 3 1996 U.S. tours, Tony was replaced on drums by Devin Ocampo (Los Angeles, CA native). The new lineup recorded SWC's second full-length, Con Art, in the spring of '97 at Inner Ear studios with Don Zientara. Con Art is set for release November 3rd.
