Mr. Velcro Fastener
Lucky Bastards Living Up North
- Statra Records
Release Date:1999/2001

Don't sleep, robots are coming from up north to eat you alive. And you can't stop the progress of technology from engulfing the earth. These robots are beginning to rust so they are hard to understand when speaking. The government warns all citizens to get a rabies vaccination, keep dancing and do not panic.

Mr Velcro Fastener, the Finnish robo-techno producers Tatu Metsätähti and Tatu Peltonen, re-released their 1999 record in the US this summer. LBLUN's ten tracks might seem redundant but with time they grow on you like fungus on a wet log. Embarking with a limited vintage analog sound bank and staying within these boundaries, Mr. Velcro Fastener has krafted a year 2000 reflection on the future as seen twenty years ago.

With titles like Robots 4 Life, a perfect track for b-boying, and Blue Screen, an exercise in deep hollow round waveforms, cheese grater scratching and synth stabs, you will want to sit home all weekend wearing your grade school aluminum foil robot costume, smoke a big blunt, write a sci fi novel and eat a few pounds of twinkies, skittles and chips. These are sexy robots and proud of it.

So what is fueling this robot invasion? "To name a few [albums] that I´ve bought or listened to lately…John Tejada, Joachim Spieth, Mouse on Mars, some from Raum Musik, Maurizio´s stuff, Two Lone Swordsmen, Carl A. Finlow, Savvas Ysatis and, of course, always all the Red Planets are close to my heart. Morgan Geist, Kenny Larkin, Drexciya…Mr. Bungle."
